Some Days are Better Than Others

Today was a long walk with some steep uphill. Not a good day for Bronek!

Noticing the Little Things

Walking everyday through lovely but often similar countryside means that I appreciate the vast beauty around me but also get time to notice the little things.

Like the cuckoo heralding our entrance to the village of Villafranca Montes de Oca, the beautiful butterfly on the path, the iridescent green lizard that scuttled away before I could take a photo and the conga line of caterpillars creeping one behind the other across the road.

Helping a Fellow Peregrino

Today was our first hot day. We started out with gloves but were warned that it would be 26 without much shade and to take lots of water-something I always do. The gloves soon came off as did the trouser bottoms and Becky, I wet my bandana around my neck (thanks)

About an hour from our destination I noticed the peregrino in front of us walking as if he were a bit disoriented. When we caught up it turned out he had run out of water. Being paranoid about having enough water I was able to give him my spare – one grateful German from Bavaria.
