A False Start

This morning we let ourselves out of our accommodation at 7am leaving the key in the room door and then closing the front door behind us (our hosts don’t get up early).

We started walking to a bar for breakfast when Bronek realized we had left our walking poles in the room.  This meant waiting who knows how long to retrieve them. We found a companion from Columbia to chat to over breakfast (and now have a place to stay if we ever go to Bogota) and as luck would have it were only delayed by half an hour.

Accommodation on the French Camino

Our accommodation has been fine. Staying in * or ** pensions/hostals which are really very reasonable.  It is not worth spending $$$ for a bed as all we need is clean sheets and a shower. Last night the loos were down the passage but on the plus side we got to hang our  washing outside the window like locals. Tonight we have a delightful room but share a bathroom with 2 other couples which keeps the cost down.

Donativo

There are small signs of Spanish entrepreneurship along the way. This man who says he lives in his van greeted pilgrims with a loud hailer wishing us well. He then asked for a donativo and in return we got a lucky coin.
